Self Defense & Bully Defense Programs

We are offering separate self defense and bully defense programs which will focus on different age ranges and specific needs.  Classes will be taught by Sensei Gina and Sensei Bryce together so all aspects of striking and defending will be integrated into each class.

Cost:
While each class is self-contained and can be taken as such, the entire seminar series spans six months (one class per month) and covers a broader range of topics.

Each class will cost $35 or 6-months in advance for the series is $180.

The programs are also a lot of fun with a friend so please ask for the bring-a-friend discount:  $30/each participant or $160 for the 6-month series when paid in advance.

Self Defense Program:
The  seminar series is aimed at providing women with a small but reliable arsenal of  basic, easy-to-execute defense techniques that can be used in a variety of  situations.  Subjects to be covered include how to counter grabs, chokes and strikes, escaping multiple attackers, defense from a prone position, situational awareness, using improvised weapons, and measured use force.

Bully Defense Program:
The curriculum for these anti-bullying classes will include exercises in self-confidence building self-assertion, as well as “talk it out” training and techniques for how to safely fall if pushed, how to escape a bullying scenario, how to respond to seeing others bullied, and how to defend oneself in a fight.  Additionally, each seminar will include role-playing scenarios where students will be made to decide how best to negotiate the situation.

Program Goal:
We are not going to teach you how to fight, we are going to teach you how to defend yourself.

The best way to sum up our philosophy is to take a quote from the book - He Can Who Thinks He Can (by Orison Swett Marden):

"A physical trainer in one of our girls' colleges says that his first step is to establish the girls in self confidence; to lead them to think only of the ends to be attained and not the means.  He shows them that the greater power lies behind the muscles, in the mind, and points to the fact so frequently demonstrated, that a person in a supreme crisis, as in a fire or other catastrophe, can exert strength out of all proportion to his muscle.  He thus helps them to get rid of fear and timidity, the great handicaps to achievement."
