The Dojo

Centrally located near the HCC Dale Mabry campus in Tampa, the Florida Aikido Center provides an open, encouraging and respectful Aikido training environment to anybody ready and willing to learn. Sensei Gina, chief instructor at the Florida Aikido Center, invites anybody interested in learning Aikido to visit the dojo and watch any class.  If you have studied martial arts before and would like to participate in class, please fill out and bring with you a signed Waiver. 

While the Florida Aikido Center is a “traditional” Japanese martial arts school that practices dojo etiquette, the atmosphere is friendly, accepting and ego-free. That means students can better focus on attaining their specific goals – be they physical fitness, self-defense training, personal fulfillment or everyday stress relief.

While many members of our dojo have martial arts experience in Tai Chi, Karatē, Yoga, Jūjitsu, Jūdo, Kendo, Tae Kwon Do and Kung Fu (some even train at other dojos in the Tampa Bay area) absolutely no experience is necessary. All you will need is a desire to better yourself, work hard and have some fun along the way.

Many close friendships have been formed in the dojo and it is not unusual for students to go out for dinner or drinks in Hyde Park or Ybor City after Thursday or Friday evening classes.

Visitors from any Aikido dojo are always welcome to come and train with us.
